BARBARA HARPER COLE SIMMONS Hobart, NY Barbara "Bobby" Simmons, 87 of Hobart passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at home, with her family at her side after a long battle with ovarian cancer. She was born November 3, 1924 in Gainesville, Florida. After graduating from Stamford High School, she married Ivan Cole and they lived on the Cole family farm on the back River Road, between Hobart and South Kortright. She was very active in the Episcopal Church, community, Delaware County Election Board, and substitute Town Clerk. Her hobbies were ceramics, art and her many friends. Bobby is survived by daughter Susan (Tom) O'Brien of New York City, daughter Sally (Kuziwa) Chanaiwa of Paso Robles, CA, and son David (Karen) Cole of Amsterdam, NY. Bobby is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, a sister Grace Clark and several nieces and nephews. Bobby was predeceased by two sons, Ivan Andrew (Andy) Jr., and Michael; and Ivan, father of her children. She was also predeceased by her second husband Everett Simmons. Friends may call from 10 - 10:45 am Friday October 12, 2012 at MacArthur Funeral Home in Hobart. Funeral services will directly follow, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Hobart at 11 am.
