Barbara Skovsende

Barbara Ann (Boyd) Skovsende, 91, of North Franklin, passed away Friday evening, May 30, 2025, at Fox Nursing Home, Oneonta.

Born on April 22, 1934, in Delhi, Barbara was the daughter of the late Raymond and Mary (Scott) Boyd.

On April 25, 1952, Barbara married Niels Skovsende at the Andes Presbyterian Church in Andes, a union that lasted 63 years until Niels passing on December 18, 2015

Barbara and Niels owned and operated Skovsende Farm in North Franklin from 1959 until their retirement in 2013. Their family run dairy was known for their Red and White Holsteins.

Barbara and Niels enjoyed bowling in several area leagues and the couple also enjoyed square dancing and trips to Lake George.

Besides her husband, Barbara was predeceased by her son: Thomas Skovsende; and a brother: John Boyd; along with several in-laws.

She is survived by a son: Garry (Denise) Skovsende of North Franklin; daughter-in-law: Georgetta Skovsende; granddaughter: Krista (Tony) Pugh of Texas; grandsons: Jamie, Brandon and Aaron (Megan Donaldson) Skovsende all of North Franklin; great-grandchildren: Collin, Destiny and Allie Skovsende; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A service will be held at 11AM on Friday, June 6, 2025, at the MacArthur Funeral Home, 134 Main St., Delhi, NY, burial will follow at Andes Cemetery, Andes.

In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Barbara can be made to Aldrich Baptist Church, PO Box 174, Franklin, NY 13775.
