Barbara A. White

Barbara A. (Smith) White, 84, of Hamden, passed away on August 16, 2022 with her family by her side.

Born on September 7, 1937 in Oceanside, Long Island, she was the daughter of the late Bergan and Hilda(Pearsall) Smith.

Barbara married the love of her life Harold J. White, who predeceased her in November of 2007.

Throughout her life, Barbara worked as a waitress in many diners in Long Island and she retired from the Great American Grocery in Delhi.

Barbara loved to play bingo and traveling back to Long Island to visit her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, husband and siblings, Barbara was predeceased by her grandson: David Elam, Jr.

She is survived by her daughters: Lisa (Fred) Ford of Hamden, Debra (John) Hoover of Baldwin, Long Island, Jacqueline (James Sloan) White of Freeport, Long Island and Patricia (Raymond) Ferrara of Freeport, Long Island; grandchildren: Shannon Elam, Cody and Matthew Guile, John, Jason (Allie) and Jeanine Hoover, Raymond (Chrissy), Daniel, Ashley and Anthony Ferrara, James (Jenn) and Michael (Michelle) Battaglia and William (Kelly) McEvoy; great-grandchildren: Madison Elam Baldi, Dawson Guile, Tyler, JD and Jordan Battaglia, Colton and Brett Hoover, Dominic, Joseph, Brielle and Logan McEvoy, Jayde, Kayne and Londyn Battaglia, Raymond III and Chloe Ferrara; and many special friends.

At Barbara’s request there will be no calling hours and a private celebration of life will be held.
