Betty Ann Clark, 95, passed away peacefully on the 15th of October 2026, at O’Connor Hospital. She was only briefly ill, within six days prior to passing. She was surrounded by her loving family; her son and daughter-in-law had stepped out leaving Betty with her two granddaughters and two great-grandchildren.
She was born February 16th, 1931, in Delhi and lived in Bloomville with her parents John Cornell and Susie McIntosh Cornell. She had an older brother Ike, and a sister Eva, and later a brother LeRoy.
She went to school in South Kortright and received many honors. While attending South Kortright school, Betty was a cheerleader and served on the Kalends board.
In 1950, she started the year off right and married William Glenford Clark of Delhi; the only child of Stanley E. Clark and Redith Clark. Stanley has a farm on the flat above Fraiser’s on Route #10. Bill was a tractor-trailer driver, and mom was a stay-at-home mom. In April 1951, Sandra Marie Clark was born, and in June 1953 David William Clark was born. That was the way it was until David reached 6 or 7. Then Betty started work at Delaware Academy School working in the kitchen.
After this she began a new career at Delhi Tech College, where she worked for 25-30 years. She began in the maintenance department, then she went to the campus clinic where the nurses were, then to life sciences where she mingled with veterinarians, farm and equestrian people, horticulturists, and biologists. Then she went to the business office in Bush Hall where she performed many tasks including working for the President of the College. She received many words of praise from each area she worked in. Her work was always neat, and she had an uncanning ability to get to the bottom of things.
She had three homes in the Delhi area in her lifetime. The first was on Delview Terrace from 1955-1972, where the children were raised. The second home was on Back River Road, past the 4H camp from 1972-1987, where William Clark died in 1986. The third house was in Grandpa’s home on Route #28 near the trailer court heading toward Oneonta from 1987-2026. In 1995, she had her second husband of 6 years, Hal Niemiller, who later passed in 2001. She also purchased a home in Summerfield, Florida, where she would stay six months out of the year until it was sold in 2015.
Her personal endeavors included flower gardens, camping trips every summer while my father was alive, from Canada, Maine, New Hampshire, Washington D.C., Florida, New York parks, Niagara Falls, and Virginia. She was an Eastern Star member for years, was a quilter until she couldn’t manipulate the needle anymore. My father and her were Western Star dancers for years and they were also in a bowling league as well. My sister and I would be at Smalley’s Theatre while my parents were bowling. In late years, my mother Betty was on the First Presbyterian board of Deacons and improvement boards. She was also in the thick of things in the Florida Church and a little in the Community Church here in Delhi. She always enjoyed Bible study and the people that participated in them. The “Red Hatters” was a lady’s group that she also enjoyed.
Surviving is Betty’s son David and Tammy Clark, their son Noah, their daughter Sarah (1st Lt. US Navy); Betty’s daughter Sandra Craft, Sandra’s daughter Jennifer (Robert) Pickett, and her son Dustin (Jamie) Goodspeed; Jennifer’s children Brandon Scherer and Kayla (Tymon) Geelen, and her grandchildren Oaklynn, Willow, and Meadow.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service at 1PM on Thursday, October 29, 2026 at the Delhi Community Church, 46378 NY State Highway 10, Delhi NY 13753.
