IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bonnie
Turan
September 21, 1942 – April 1, 2026
Bonnie Turan, 83, of Stamford, New York passed peacefully in her home, surrounded by love on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at 1:17 pm. She joins her one true love, Andrew Turan and beloved grandson, Joshua Turan in heavenly bliss. She is survived by her son Andrew Turan, daughter in-law Christine Turan of Jensen Beach Florida, daughter Sharen Dudash, son in-law Alan Dudash of Alexandria, Virginia, son David Turan, son in-law Kelly Keck of Stamford, New York, her grandchildren, Kristy York, Cody Dudash and Jacob Dudash, her great grandchildren, Aubriella York and Cecelia York, sister in-law Janice Bentsen, brother in-law Robert Turan, sister in-law Dee Krawczyk, brother in-law Thomas Krawczyk, and many nieces and nephews.
Bonnie was born on Staten Island, New York to Walter Fundner and Marion (Lindemann) Fundner on September 21, 1942 and was married to Andrew Turan on January 2, 1960. The Turan family owned and operated Hop-O-Nose Marine in Catskill, New York for thirty years from 1971 to 2001 before retiring to Florida. The fond memories of the wonderful experiences they shared with thousands of people over three decades, will keep her in our hearts forever. Bonnie and Andy were most fortunate to have celebrated almost 60 years in a loving marriage prior to Andy's passing in 2019, after which She moved to Stamford in May of 2020 to live with David and Kelly.
Whether you called her Bon, Mom, Nana, or Aunt Bonnie, you know what a light she was in this world. Her infectious smile and heart of gold has touched so many lives. As an avid downhill skier/racer she was very proud of her bronze and sliver medals and always lamented missing the gold by less than a second. She was an excellent photographer and sold many photographs from her small gallery at the marina. She loved gardening, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, all word puzzles (people were intimidated by her Scrabble mastery), card games, rummy cube and so much more. Her Christmas cookies are stuff of legend. But, what she enjoyed most was spending time with her children and grandchildren and relaxing in the sunshine getting her vitamin D.
At her request, there will be no services. A celebration of her life is pending. Please do not send cut flowers or potted plants. Instead you might consider making a donation in her memory to the Michael Kudish Natural History Preserve, 2515 Tower Mountain Road, Stamford, NY 12167 (www.mknhp.org, Paypal info@mknhp.org)
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the amazing women and men of Helios Care for providing loving comfort to Bonnie throughout her final days. They are angels on Earth.
