Carolyn A. Collins

Carolyn A. Collins, 85, of Stamford, formerly of Hobart, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026 at her home.

Born on July 7, 1941 in the Town of Kortright, she was the daughter of the late Preston and Evelyn (Titus) Berry.

Carolyn was a graduate of South Kortright Central School.

She married Harold “Pete” Collins on July 11, a union that lasted over 57 years, until his passing in 2017.

Besides raising an active family, Carolyn worked in the cafeteria at South Kortright Central School and later helped taking care of her grandchildren and other families’ children.

As a child, Carolyn enjoyed riding horses. Later she played in local softball leagues. She and her husband Pete were both New York Mets fans and Carolyn continued the tradition even after Pete’s passing. Decorating her home and collecting decorations for holidays and seasons became a lifelong hobby. Carolyn didn’t like to leave the area unless it was to travel to Florida to visit her son and see him perform in musicals, as she loved musicals and Broadway shows. She watched both of her sons, Eric and Darren perform their music with great pride. Her greatest passion in life though was her family. She cherished family gatherings and always spoke of the years when family gathered each weekend. Carolyn adored her family, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and good friends at the Senior apartments

Besides her parents and husband, Carolyn was predeceased by her siblings: William Berry, Edward Berry, and Evelyn Meyer.

She is survived by her children: Vicki (Scot Sandin) McMullen of Bloomville, Darrell (Elizabeth) Collins of Oneonta, Darren (Sandra) Collins of Grand Gorge, and Eric (Feliciano Gevera) Collins of West Palm Beach, FL; grandchildren: Matthew, Lucas, Cassandra, Emily, Sarah, Nicholas, David, James, Kevin, Liam, Kathleen, Ben and Michaela; great-grandchildren: Jaithen, Lily, Ruby, Scarlett, Jack, Sawyer, Forrest, Max, Henry, Justin, Isaac, Caroline, Aria, Lyra, Mia, and Miles; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends and relatives are invited to call from 10AM-12PM on Friday, September 4, 2026 at the MacArthur Funeral Home, 15 Buntline Drive, Stamford, NY, where a funeral service will be held at noon. Burial will be in Locust Hill Cemetery, Hobart. A reception will be held at the Hobart Community Center following the interment.
