Catherine Weale

Catherine Weale, 81, of Stamford passed away on January 23, 2023 at Albany Medical Center following a long illness.


Born on April 15, 1941 in the Bronx, Catherine was the daughter of the late Thomas and Catherine (Golden) Burke.


Mrs. Weale was a secretary at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, NY until her retirement. Following her retirement, she and her husband Harold moved to Stamford.


Catherine was a devout Roman Catholic and was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, Stamford, where she was a religious educator and a member of the Women’s Guild. She was also a member of the Stamford/Hobart Inner Wheel and volunteered at Core Values in Stamford.


She enjoyed reading and watching football, often cheering on her son’s favorite team the Steelers.


Besides her parents, Catherine was predeceased by her husband: Harold Weale on June 4, 2022; her daughter: AnnMarie Weale; brother: Thomas Burke; sister-in-law: Patricia Burke; and step-father: George Stroub.


She is survived by a son: Raymond Weale; a daughter: Eileen Sanzone; grandchildren: Emma Sanzone, Riley Hitt, Ryan Weale and Joseph Weale Burakowsk and his adoptive parents: Jean and Steve Burakowski; great-grandson: Milo Oliver Weale and his mother: Kelly Muscott; her sisters: Mary and Peggy; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends.


A mass and celebration of Catherine’s life was be held at Sacred Heart Church, Delhi. Entombment was at Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
