Charles Frank “Chuck” McIntosh, age 81, of Bovina Center, NY, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025, at home surrounded by family.
He was born on June 13, 1944, in Margaretville, NY, to Charles McIntosh and Eva Pindar McIntosh. A lifelong resident of Bovina Center, Chuck graduated from Andes Central School and went on to study agriculture at SUNY Delhi, where he also played basketball.
Chuck worked with his family on their dairy farms and helped run Bobcat Ski Center, where he was also a member of the National Ski Patrol. He later founded McIntosh Auction Service together with his parents and his brother Roger, with the support of his entire family. Both the ski center and the auction service became cornerstones of the community. Chuck loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting. He was a proud member of Balsam Mountain Hunting Camp and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
Deeply committed to his community, Chuck was a founding member of the Bovina Emergency Squad and served as assistant chief of the Bovina Center Fire Department. He remained an active member of the fire department for 62 years, offering steadfast service and leadership. He was a member of the Bovina Town Board and served on the Zoning Board, always striving to support the community he loved.
Chuck is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years: Betty McIntosh; his children: Kim Riera and her husband Marcelo, Brian McIntosh, and Bonnie Rockefeller and her husband Kyle. He took immense pride in being a grandfather to Lucas, Mateo, and Kai Riera, and Alexis, Chase, and Braeden Rockefeller. Above all, Chuck’s greatest joy was his family - he could always be found on the sidelines, in the stands, or at their events, cheering them on. He is also survived by his siblings: Carol and Richard Brannen, Roger McIntosh, Richard and Joanne McIntosh, and Tim and Tamara McIntosh; along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and several close friends he considered family.
A private family graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025. A celebration of Chuck’s life will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Bovina Center Fire Department, all are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bovina Fire Department, Helios Care, or the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
