HAMDEN Doris H. Aitken went home to be with her Lord from Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown on November 10, 2011 after a short illness. Doris was born on June 18, 1936 in Mundale, the daughter of Merreld K. and Dorothy (Patterson) Hunt. She graduated from Walton High School in the class of 1954. Following graduation, she worked for 5 years at The First National Bank of Hamden. On June 9, 1959 she married Howard E. Aitken at Mundale. She worked with Howard on their family farm until his death on April 30, 2006 and then continued to work on the farm, mowing lawn and tending heifers until her death. Doris was a member and attended the Pines Brook Baptist Church in Walton. She is survived by her 2 sons, David of Mount Vision, and Paul (Margie) of Hamden; 2 grandchildren, Beth Aitken of Hamden and Thomas G. Aitken of Mount Vision; a sister, Joyce Meinke of Bethlehem, PA; a sister in law, Leona Hunt of Delhi; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Howard; her parents; a sister Lillian Beardslee; and a brother, Clayton Hunt. Calling hours will take place on Sunday, November 13, 2011 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi. A funeral service will take place on Monday, November 14, 2011 at 11 a.m. also at the funeral home with Pastor Carl Butler officiating. Burial will take place in the Hamden Cemetery, Hamden. Memorial contributions in Doris' name may be made to the Delhi Emergency Squad, Delview Terrace Extension, Delhi, NY 13753. Condolences can be left for the family online at www.macarthurfh.com. Arrangements are by the MacArthur Funeral Home of Delhi.
