Dorothy Rodgers

Dorothy Ann Rodgers surrounded by her family, went to be with the Lord after a long illness on June 18, 2015. Dorothy was formerly of Warrenton, Virginia and came back to New York on April 28, 2015 to be closer to her family. She was residing at Robinson Terrace where she was lovingly cared for. Dorothy was born in Snowflake, West Virginia on April 12, 1944. She was the daughter of Allen and Clara Corrine Dowdy. Dorothy married Charles Edwin Rodgers in 1962. In 1968, Ed and Dorothy moved to New York where they later purchased a dairy farm in South Kortright. Ed and Dorothy raised their family and watched their grandchildren grow before moving to Virginia in 1993. There they formed Faith Builders, a construction company building residential homes and some commercial buildings. Ed acted as the general contractor overseeing the homes' constructions while Dorothy used her great eye for design to decorate the interiors of the homes. Dorothy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother as well as a great friend. Dorothy loved spending time with her family, and it was her pride and joy to share her home and her wonderful cooking with the ones she loved. She was passionate about her relationship with the Lord, and shared her faith, whether in work or deed, everywhere she went. One of her favorite verses was 2 Corinthians 12:9, which says, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in your weakness". Dorothy always made a friend wherever she went, and anyone who knew her could recall how she often started conversations with complete strangers, always bringing a smile to someone's face. Dorothy is survived by 'Ed' her husband of 53 years, her son Scott (Renee) Rodgers, her daughter Wendy (Carl) Hanselman, grandchildren Amanda (Paul) Moller, Jeremy and Rachel Hanselman, and great-granddaughter Olivia Moller, her sister Clara as well as nieces and nephews. Dorothy is predeceased by her daughter Jennifer, brothers Forest Allen and Robert, stepbrothers William, Elmer, Wade and Wayman. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dorothy's memory to Catskill Area Hospice, 1 Birchwood Drive, Oneonta, NY 13820. Services will be held at South Kortright Community Church at 11:00 am on Monday, June 22, 2015 with Rev. Charles Goeckel officiating. Burial will be a Riverside Cemetery in Bloomville.
