Douglas J. Mattice, 74 of Bloomville, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2026 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, following a long illness.
Born on December 30, 1951 in Gilboa, NY, the son of the late Claude Mattice and Nellie Lewis Mattice Schermerhorn.
Doug worked for R.H. Lewis and Sons Chevrolet in Delhi for many years as a mechanic and later operated his own detailing shop at Lewis’s Garage until his retirement.
He enjoyed barbequing, spending time in his shop at home tinkering with machinery and fixing most everything, however his greatest joy was his family, he was a devoted husband, proud father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Besides his mother and father, Doug was predeceased by his stepfather: Fred Schermerhorn; brother: Jeffery Mattice; and brother-in-law: Doug Fancher.
He is survived by his wife: Nancy E. (Hait) Mattice; three sons: Martin, Daniel and Jeremy; five grandchildren: Shanna Lee, Bonniejean Mattice, Zachery Mattice, Makenz Mattice and Creed Mattice; four great-grandchildren: Anthony, Eliana, Kade and Evelyn; four sisters: Mary Lee, Linda (Ron) Gardner, Connie Fancher and Fay (Ed) Shadick; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be a private celebration of Doug’s life at the convivence of the family.
