Eddie W. More

Eddie W. More, 82 of Harpersfield, NY, passed away on Monday evening, February 9, 2026, at Cooperstown Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing.

Born on October 1, 1943, in Margaretville, NY, Eddie was the son of the late Walter and Mary (Cleveland) More.

He retired from New York State Dept. of Environmental Conservation as a supervisor at their Stamford, NY office, Eddie, along with his son Jake operated a well-known local custom butcher shop for many years, serving local hunters and farmers.

Eddie also was committed to serving his community as a volunteer fireman, first with the Hobart Fire Department and later with the Stamford Fire Department.

He was a true outdoorsman, Eddie enjoyed fishing, farming, horses and hunting, he often enjoyed the companionship of many coonhounds and birddogs over the years.

Besides his parents, Eddie was predeceased by his siblings: Audrey (Ken) Dorosky, Edna (Guy) Hitchcock, Christina “Tina” Morse, Inze Marella and Steve More.

He is survived by his wife: Lana More of Harpersfield; son: Jake (Jessica Fredenburgh) More of Hobart; sister: Elsie “Suzzi” Eno; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of Eddie’s life is being planned for the spring and will be announced.
