Edward John Eckert

Edward John Eckert, 87, of Stamford, passed away on Sunday afternoon, January 19, 2025 at Robinson Terrace with his loving wife by his side.

Born on July 23, 1937 in Tarrytown, NY, Edward was the son of the late John and Mary (Pollock) Eckert.

He proudly served in the US Army from 1960 until his honorable discharge in 1963.

Edward worked with the former Victory Market and retired from Great American as assistant manager of the Oneonta grocery market.

He enjoyed watching television, word searches but his greatest joy was his family especially his grandchildren.

Besides his parents Edward was predeceased by his first wife: Freda (Cole) Eckert; and  brother: Martin A. Hanak.

Edward is survived by his wife: Lorelei Eckert of Stamford; children: Dave Eckert of Franklin, Debbie (Dave) Powell of Leeds, Cheryl Marinaccio of Walton and Bonnie Tanner of Oneonta; grandchildren: Ashley, Amber, Claudia, Tatum, John, Destiny, Jennie, Jacob and Dominick; and his sister: Nora Ackerman of Nyack.

A celebration of Edward’s life will be held at 1PM on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at the MacArthur Funeral Home.  Burial with full military honors will follow at Stamford Cemetery.
