Eleanor A. Jersey

Eleanor “Ellie” Ann (Tripp) Jersey passed away March 26, 2026 at the Cooperstown Center of Nursing and Rehabilitation at the age of 96.

Ellie was born in Elmira N.Y. On September 14, 1929 the daughter of Claude and Grace (Hill) Tripp the oldest of six siblings. At the age of 14 Eleanor moved to Meridale, a place she would call home for much of her life and where she met her husband Glenford. They were united in marriage in January of 1947 and together they raised three children on their family farm.

Eleanor leaves behind her brother: Charles Tripp; Sister: Joyce Brandt; daughter: Suzanne Bahr; son: George Jersey; grandchildren: Laura Bryant, David Luquer, Billy Jo Bahr, Samantha Bahr, Bethany Arnold, Mindy Nigh and Stephanie Jersey; and several nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren.

Eleanor was predeceased by her husband: Glenford Jersey; sister; Mary Utter; brothers: Robert Tripp and Richard Tripp; daughter: Katherine Scofield; and granddaughter: Amanda Wait.

A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at the Meridale Community Church, 55 County Highway 10, Meridale, NY 13806.

Memorial contributions can be made in Ellie’s name to the Meridale Community Church, Delhi American Legion or The Heart of the Catskills Humane Society.
