Eleanor L. McKee

Eleanor L. McKee, 97, of Delhi, formerly of Andes, NY, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Delhi Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Delhi.

Born on May 2, 1928 on Russell Hill in Bovina, she was the daughter of the late Walter N. and Erla (Houghtaling) Gray.

Eleanor was a 1946 graduate of Andes Central School and attended Ridley Secretarial School in Binghamton.

She was married on June 11, 1950 to Gilbert R. McKee at the Cabin Hill Presbyterian Church.

Eleanor worked for several places over the years including, as a secretary for Gladstone Brothers and Andes Central School, she also assisted her husband with Gib’s Service Station, she served the Village of Andes as Clerk and Treasurer and was the Andes Town Clerk for 22 years until her retirement. Later she worked with the Farm Family Opportunity Program at SUNY Delhi for 6 years until the program closed out. Following her move to Delhi, Eleanor volunteered at Senior Meals and later at the Open Door.

She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Andes Fire Department Auxiliary, and she was also credited as a founding member of Delaware County Town Clerks Association.

Besides her husband and parents, Eleanor was predeceased by her siblings: Lillian (Robert) Barnhart and Virginia (Robert) Parsons.

She is survived by her sons: Timothy (Sharon) McKee, Russell McKee and Douglas (Julie) McKee; grandchildren: Morgan (Erica) McKee, Ryan McKee and Kylie McKee; great-grandson: Jaysen McKee; along with several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2PM on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Andes Cemetery, Andes, NY.
