Eric E. Whritner

Eric E. Whritner of Worcester passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025. He was 54 years old.

The youngest son of the late William and Betty Lou Whritner, Eric was born March 25, 1971, in Newburgh, NY. He moved with his family to Jefferson when he was in 2nd grade and attended Jefferson Central School.

He graduated from SUNY Cobleskill with a degree in accounting and worked for the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance as a tax auditor and later worked in information technology. Eric worked there for over 30 years up until his passing.

Eric was an avid pop culture fan. He loved movies, music, and video games from his childhood while growing up in the 1980s. He would recite quotes from his favorite films by heart and could be counted on to identify any song that played on the radio.

Those who were close to Eric would describe him as kind, funny, intelligent, and sharp as a tack. He had a way of telling the most charming stories and would always light up a room. He cared deeply about every person he met and took the time to get to know them on a personal level.

Eric is survived by his brother: John Whritner and his wife Kimberly; niece: Meagan Zaionz, her husband Christopher, and their son: William; niece: Lauren Whritner; cousins: Jeffery Whritner, his wife Sonya, son JT and daughter-in-law Annalise; Edward Whritner, his wife Fairalight, and sons: Sidney and Angus; Brittney Simonson, her husband Erik and son Kellin; and countless loyal lifelong friends.

Friends and family are invited to calling hours at MacArthur Funeral Home in Stamford on Thursday, June 19th from 4-7pm. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10am on Friday, June 20th at Evergreen Cemetery in Jefferson.
