Ethel Drake

FRANKLIN — Ethel B. Drake, 92, formerly of Bloomville, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, in Hobart. She was born Aug. 11, 1920, in Cannonsville, the daughter of Clinton and Lena Blackman. She married Frank L. Drake on May 5, 1946. He predeceased her Dec. 13, 1991. Mrs. Drake was employed and retired from both Agway, Bloomville and Countryside Care Center, Delhi. She is survived by daughter, Dawn Bals and John Woznick, Hobart; a son, Frank J. Drake, Oswego; daughter, Phyllis and Larry Roe, Hobart; grandchildren, Scott Roe and girlfriend Ashley Palmatier, Hobart, and Kayla and Mike Barlow, Davenport; a sister, Emeline (Babe) VanAusdale, Portland, Ore.; brother-in-law, Glen Geertgens, Sidney; and sister-in-law, Alice Blackman, Hamden; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews. Her husband, Frank L. Drake; a sister, Margaret Geertgens; a brother, Vanley Blackman; and brother-in-law, Gerald VanAusdale, predeceased her. The family acknowledges special thanks to Ethel's caregiver, Sarah Temple, and Catskill Area Hospice. Calling hours will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi. Memorial services will follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Bert More officiating.
