Eugene Stackpole

On Wednesday, June 26, 2019, Eugene W. Stackpole, passed away at the age of 85. Eugene was born on November 18, 1933 to Robert E. and Barbara (McGinn) Stackpole in Brooklyn. He graduated from Iona Prep, Fordham University and Hunter College, where he received his Master’s degree. Eugene served in the Army and was stationed in Europe, receiving an honorable discharge. Mr. Stackpole taught public high school, including special education, in Levittown, NY and was a leader in the teacher’s union. He retired to Greene and Delaware counties where he enjoyed collecting and military history, particularly favoring the book stores in Hobart. Eugene was preceded in death by his father, Bob; his mother, Barbara; his brother, John; his sons, Andrew and John; and his daughter, Mary. He is survived by his daughter, Christine; son, Eugene R.; his brothers, Robert and Joseph; his cousin, Eleanor; and nieces and nephews. Eugene’s burial will be held on Wednesday, July 17th, at Calvary Cemetery, 49-02 Laurel Hill Boulevard, Woodside, NY at 11 o’clock a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 3 Landmark Square, Suite 330, Stamford, CT, 06901.
