Evelyn Smith

Evelyn was born in Brooklyn on June 2, 1925, the daughter of Michael and Rose (Veltri) Cario. She left this world with her son, Donald at her side in A.O. Fox Hospital on January 30, 2020. She was raised and attended school in Queens and then the family later moved to Long Island. They relocated to South Gilboa in 1966 and eventually Evelyn and her son (Donald) moved to Walton in 2012. Evelyn retired 3 times within her lifetime. SUNY Delhi, and then George Marcus in Stamford, with her final retirement being from McDonald's in Walton just this past fall. She enjoyed reading and watching Fox News in her later years. Evelyn is survived by her son: Donald M. (Yvonne) Smith; and her grandson: Joshua M. (Autum) Smith of Indiana. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and siblings. Evelyn always put others before herself and she would always say, "People are just beautiful." There was not a soul with a more pure heart than Evie. She lived her life full of love and her presence will be missed beyond measure. In honoring her wishes, Evelyn was cremated and requested that no services or gathering be held. "Just say a prayer for me." was her written request.
