Fred E. Hitt lll, passed away on December 7th, 2020 in St. Luke’s Hospital, Duluth Minnesota. Fred was born on October 4th, 1956 to Fred and Trudy Hitt of Bloomville NY. He is survived by his Mother: Trudy Hitt Colvin; Brother: Jim (Donna) Hitt; Sister: Kathy (Darryl) Sparkes; nephews and nieces: Kevin (Suzy) Hitt, Jennifer (Robert) Mueller, Joshua (Bri) Sparkes and Cory Sparkes (Marsha Nissen); great nephews and nieces: Lila & Lauren Mueller, Brooke & Jacob Hitt, Paisley, Adalee and Brayden Sparkes. He is also survived by many uncles and cousins. Fred also has an adopted family in Wrenshall Minnesota the Laveau family: Jeremy, Amy, Remington, and Morgan. He was predeceased by his Father, Fred E. Hitt Jr. Fred attended South Kortright Central School, graduating in 1974. After graduation, Fred joined the U.S. Air Force in 1974, becoming a security police dog handler. He received an honorable discharge. While growing up in Bloomville, Fred loved the outdoors, learning how to fish and not necessarily with a pole, baseball, soccer, ice skating on mill pond and hunting. Trapping was the one outside activity that he really loved and took pride in, and where he earned his nickname “Trapper”. Fred moved to Minnesota to work for the International Union of Elevator constructors. Which he retired from. Following his retirement, Fred would spend his time in Bloomville and Wrenshall Minnesota. He took great pride in his flowers, and lawn care at the home he grew up in. Every winter he would head to Wrenshall Minnesota to deer hunt and ice fish on the many Minnesota lakes. A man with a gracious heart, contributing to church dinners, Christmas, and Easter boxes for his church. He also made sure that the service flags were placed on the Bloomville Cemetery before Memorial Day. Fred will be remembered for his big heart, deep pockets, wonderful smile, and contagious laugh that made everyone laugh with him. He was a friend to many. A special thanks to the Hospice team of St. Luke’s. Graveside Services will be held at 11AM on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Riverside Cemetery, Bloomville, followed by a celebration and time of sharing at the Bloomville Fire Dept. Masks and social distancing will be required for all in attendance. In Lieu of flowers Fred’s family has requested contributions to the Bloomville Fire Dept. and EMS, PO Box 756, Bloomville, NY 13739 in his memory.
