Gail Spencer

Gail Spencer, 78, of Stamford, NY, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2026, following a long battle with breast cancer.

Born on December 15, 1947, in Glen Cove, NY, Gail was the daughter of the late Paul and Dorothy VanVoorhis.

Gail was married to her husband Robert Spencer for over 52 years, the couple worked and lived in Long Island, until they retired to Stamford.

She enjoyed gardening, growing both beautiful flower beds and bountiful vegetable gardens, at her home, where she loved nature and watching the wildlife, especially bird watching. Gail also had the affection of several pet cats over the years. She was a gifted cook and loved preparing large meals for most holiday celebrations with friends and family.

Gail was an active member of the VFW Auxiliary in Stamford.

She is survived by her husband: Robert E. Spencer of Stamford; her sisters: Susan Mansueto of Melbourne, FL and Karen Erenstoft of Coral Springs FL; along with her brothers-in-law: Quenton, James, Jesse and John Spencer; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Calling hours will be held from 3PM-6PM on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at the MacArthur Funeral Home, 15 Buntline Drive, Stamford, NY 12167.
