George Henry Ericson passed peacefully Sunday, August 3, 2025.

George was born April 12, 1945 at Stamford Community Hospital to the late John Henry Ericson and Gladys (Linvall) Ericson.

He graduated from Jefferson Central School in June of 1963 and was drafted immediately into military service in August of 1963. George chose to serve in the US Navy and was stationed at Anacostia Naval Receiving Station in Maryland. President Kennedy was assassinated November 22nd, 1963, and George was in parade uniform on Pennsylvania Avenue in his funeral procession. He went on to serve four years and saw combat duty aboard naval ship LST USS YORK COUNTY, 1175 (Landing Ship Transport, Amphibious Force) out of Little Creek, Virginia. He was involved in the conflict occurring in the Dominican Republic. George was honorably discharged in 1967, earning metals and ribbons for this conflict and a ribbon and metal for National Defense. He was a member of the VFW Post 6292 and the American Legion in Stamford, NY and the VFW Post 10084 in Lake Panasoffkee, FL. George was actively involved, until his death, with VFW and veteran-related activities.

George returned to Jefferson, NY after his military service and married Bonnie Lee Miller of Jefferson, NY on September 28th, 1968, at the Jefferson Methodist Church. George and Bonnie had a daughter: Tracey Lorelle Aasbo and a son: Curtis Michael Ericson.

He retired as a lineman for New York Telephone/Verizon and then worked for New York State D.E.C. George enjoyed hunting, fishing, and anything outdoor/nature related. He was an avid hunter and respected outdoorsman.

George is survived by his wife: Bonnie; daughter and son-in-law : Tracey and Thomas Aasbo of Uvalde, Texas; son and daughter-in-law: Curtis and Shannon (Coffey) Ericson of Hawthorne, FL; granddaughters: Annika Aasbo Belicek (Trenton Belicek) of LaPrior, Texas and Madeline Aasbo of Uvalde, Texas. George actively traveled to spend as much time as possible with his beautiful granddaughters, daughter and son-in-law. George is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law: John and Diane Ericson of Blenheim, NY.

Calling Hours will be from 12PM to 2PM on Saturday, August, 9, 2025 at MacArthur Funeral Home, 15 Buntline Drive, Stamford. A service and celebration of George’s life will be at 2PM at the funeral home with Rev. Frank Adams of North Carolina celebrant. Burial with military honors will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Jefferson, NY.
