In 1940, after his father Josef died, he immigrated to America with his mother, Maria at the age of 17 months old, entering through Ellis Island. Gil grew up in Philadelphia, PA, graduated from Villanova University, married Ethel C. Moore in 1960 and started a family.

While in Stamford he and his wife were members of the Stamford Rescue Squad and Volunteer Fire Department. Gilbert was a member of the Stamford Rotary Club and Sacred Heart Church. Gil worked as a Certified Public Accountant at several businesses in Pennsylvania, New York and Connecticut. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a Eucharistic Minister.
In 1980 Gil and Ethel moved to Danbury, CT. In 2003, his wife Ethel suffered a devastating stroke which led the move to North Carolina where two of his daughters assisted him in caring for our mother, Ethel, for almost 20 years.
