Harold Bedford

Harold E. Bedford, 95, of North Harpersfield, passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Robinson Terrace Nursing Home in Stamford, following a brief illness. Born on May 3, 1923 on the family farm in North Harpersfield where he spent his entire life, the son of the late Ora E. and Nettie (More) Bedford. Mr. Bedford was married to Ethel Joslyn on October 3, 1948, a union that lasted over 67 years until her passing on December 6, 2015. Harold owned and operated the family dairy farm in North Harpersfield, a business that continues to operate today under the next generation of Bedford family. He was a dedicated member of the community and held several offices and memberships over the years. Harold was a board member of the ASCS, Former Director of Farm Credit Services for over 20 years, Town of Harpersfield Councilman and Assessment Review Board, Delaware Co. Planning Board, 74 year member of the Col. Harper Grange where he held local, county and state offices, 72 year member of Jefferson Lodge F&AM and a member of the Jefferson Methodist Church. He is survived by his children: Russell (Laurie) Bedford and Doris (Anthony) Thayer all of North Harpersfield; one granddaughter: Katlin Bedford of Ohio and several nieces and nephews. Friends and relatives are invited to call on the family from 5-8PM on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at the MacArthur Funeral Home, 15 Buntline Drive, Stamford, where a funeral service will be held at 11AM on Thursday with Donald Palmer and David Ogborn, officiating.
