Harry F. Laux, 85, of Cobleskill, NY, formerly of Stamford, NY, passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 4, 2026 at AO Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta, NY
Born on January 22, 1941 in Stamford, NY, the son of the late Frederick and Inga (Giesmann) Laux.
Mr. Laux proudly served in the US Marine Corp from 1959 until his honorable discharge as a Corporal in 1963, a dedication to his country that was followed by his children and several grandchildren serving in the military.
Harry was married on October 15, 1965 in Hobart, NY to his wife of 60 years, Mary C. (Brown) Laux.
Following his service, Harry returned to Stamford and started a career as a commercial truck driver, first driving for the former Murphy Dairy, then he went on to become an owner/operator, driving over a million miles over his career finally retiring in 2002.
Harry loved the outdoors, often working in the woods, and in his retirement, he had several lawn/landscaping contracts for local property owners. Harry always loved coming back to his hometown of Stamford. Harry was also a member of the Stamford VFW and American Legion Posts.
He is survived by his wife: Mary C. Laux of Cobleskill, NY; four children: Victor (Jennifer) Laux of Galway, NY, Denise (Greg) Moorefield of Riner, VA, Andrew (Ann Marie) Laux of Bridger, MT, and Mark Laux of Cobleskill, NY; nine grandchildren: Kyle, Sydney (Allen), Scott (Daphnie), Samantha (Steven), Allie, Kaitlyn, Ashley, Thomas and Cory; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends and relatives are invited to call from 4PM-7PM on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at the MacArthur Funeral Home, 15 Buntline Drive, Stamford, NY, where a funeral service will be held at 11AM on Friday, July 10, 2026, followed by burial with full military honors at Stamford Cemetery, Stamford, NY.
In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Harry can be made to the Wounded Warriors Project www.woundedwarriorproject.org or to the Stamford American Legion Post 1379, 65721 State Highway 10, Stamford, NY 12167.
