Helen Vance

Helen Vance, a resident of Stamford, NY since 1987, passed away on January 16, 2021 at Robinson Terrace. Helen was born in the Town of Champlain, NY on May 8, 1921, the daughter of Walton and Ella(Hastings) Fletcher. She was married to Maynard Vance in 1941. Helen was a graduate of Rouses Point High School, class of 1939. Her life focused on raising her five children although she worked for the D and H Railroad during WWII and the Chauvin Insurance Agency after her children were grown. Helen attended the First Presbyterian Church in Rouses Point and took care of her parents in their later years. Helen is survived by a daughter Elaine Yakey (Brian) of Durham, Conn., and three sons: Gary (Mari) of East Windsor, NJ, Walton (Deborah Eddins) of Dallas, TX and Maynard (Elly) of Hobart, NY and thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Helen was predeceased by her husband Maynard in 1984, a son Earle, in 2004, and a grandson, Kenny Vance, in 2017.
