Herbert W. Truesdell

Herbert W. Truesdell, 90, of Andes, NY, passed away early Saturday morning, July 26, 2025, at Albany Medical Center, following a short illness.

Born on November 18, 1934, in Andes, the son of the late William and Mabel (McQueen) Truesdell.

Herb served in the US Army following being drafted during the Korean War.

He worked for over 28 1/2 years as a truck and heavy equipment operator for the Town of Andes Highway Department until his retirement. Herb also worked at various local dairy farms from a young age and also worked in construction and excavating over the years.

With a strong work ethic Herb didn’t take much time out for himself but when time allowed, he enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and snowmobiling.

Besides his parents, Herb was predeceased by his wife: Carol (Merwin) Truesdell in 2000; along with a brother: James Truesdell; and sister: Marian Calhoun.

He is survived by two sons: Herbert (Nancy McNamara) Truesdell of Andes and Gene Truesdell of West Winfield, NY; grandchildren: Shelby (Paul) Mantello of MD, Jeremy (Nichole) Truesdell of GA, Dannielle Drumm of PA and Ethan McNamara of Walton; great-grandchild: Leona Mantello; brother: Lauren (Kathy Fenton) Andes; close friend: John Bouton of Andes; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends and relatives are invited to call from 4-7PM on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at the MacArthur Funeral Home, 134 Main Street, Delhi. Graveside services will be held at 10AM on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Andes Cemetery, Andes, NY.
