James A. "Jimmy" Hannigan

James A. Hannigan, 62, of Jefferson, NY, passed away suddenly on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at his home.

Born on November 15, 1963, in Yonkers, NY, James was the son of the late James and Arline (Dunford) Hannigan.

Since high school, Jimmy was a bit of a perfectionist who loved carpentry. He did everything from remodels, new home construction, to creating things in his vision.

Jimmy’s greatest passion was fishing and outdoors in nature. He loved spending time around a great bonfire with family and friends.

He is survived by his children: James J. Hannigan and Laura A. Hannigan both of North Carolina; his sisters: Cheryl (Gary) Brundage of Sidney, Kathleen (John) Liszewski of Yonkers, Mary Benes of Carmel, Nancy (Michael) Miksad of East Fishkill, Trisha (Dave) Alberts of Hamburg, NJ, and Ellen Hannigan (Jim Merwin) of Jefferson; along with many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

A prayer service will be held at 2PM on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at the MacArthur Funeral Home, 15 Buntline Drive, Stamford, NY, where calling hours will continue from 2PM-5PM at the funeral home. Burial will be Sleepy Hollow Cemetery at a later date.
