James E. Nelson

James E Nelson passed away on May, 10, 2026.

Born on May 27, 1958 in Philadelphia, PA, the son of the late Eugene and Teresa Nelson.

James grew up tinkering with mechanical things and became an auto mechanic. He was a lifelong music lover. A generous and kind man, James would give you the shirt off his back. He was silly and loved to poke fun. James enjoyed the last twenty years living his countryside dream in Jefferson, New York, located in the rural Catskill Mountains.  James was proud to of being a fourth-degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus for the last 11 years.

He is survived by his wife of forty four years: Pat; daughter: Katie Nelson (son-in-law, Daniel Romaniello); son: Kevin Bayers (daughter-in-law, Debra); five grandchildren: Elijah, Kevin Jr, Benjamin, Autumn, and Leonardo; two grand dogs: Khaleesi and Mona Lisa; sisters: Maria Boroski (brother-in-law, Brendan) and Laura Allison (brother-in-law, Gary): brother and sister-in-law Bill and Lynn Irving; brother-in-law: Jimmy Irving; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Calling hours will be held from 1PM-4PM on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at the MacArthur Funeral Home, 15 Buntline Drive, Stamford, NY. A celebration of James’s life is being planned in Pennsylvania and will be announced soon.
