Janis Reynolds

Janis, Elizabeth Reynolds, 87, of Andes, entered her Heavenly home on November 8, 2018 at Mountainside Residential Care Center in Margaretville. She was born November 19, 1930, the daughter of the late Alfred and Bertha Wight Reynolds. She attended and graduated from Andes Central School, where she excelled in academics and music. Janis worked as a nurses’ aide at Margaretville Hospital after graduation and was, for a short time, the Postmistress at the Andes Post Office. She then began a 37-year career as Secretary to the Superintendent at Andes Central School, where generations of children affectionately referred to her as “Aunt Janis”. After her retirement, she realized a life-long dream of vacationing in Hawaii. She was choir director of the Andes Presbyterian Church for many years as well as a Sunday School Teacher, Church Trustee and a member of the UPS Church Forum. She was a woman of great faith and loved her church and church family. Surviving is a nephew: Daniel Jacques of Delhi; nieces: Kim Brown (Joseph) of Margaretville, JoAnn Boerner (Ronald) of Andes and Roxanne Finkle (Darwin) of Andes, as well as many great nieces and nephews and several great-great-nieces and nephews; and a special niece. A special niece, Nancy Jacques of Delhi also survives. She has left to be with her brothers, John and Bob, as well as her sister Marjorie in Heaven. She will also be reunited with her niece, Janis Lynn Jacques, who was her loving care-giver for years. She was also predeceased by a nephew, Charles Robert “Rob” Laing. Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at the Andes United Presbyterian Church, where friends are invited to call on the family family one hour prior to the service.
