Joan Schmidt

DAVENPORT — Joan Irene Johnson Schmidt, 86, of Davenport, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at Robinson Terrace, Stamford. She was born Aug. 14, 1926, in New York City, the daughter of Erick Herman Norberg Johnson and Sylvia (Selva) Nelson. Her husband, William Schmidt, predeceased her. Joan worked for 10 years for Dr. James Elting in Oneonta. She enjoyed membership in Charlotte Valley Presbyterian Church, Davenport, and served as president of the Women's Group and as a Deacon and Elder of the church. She is survived by two daughters, Joan Poore and Irene Dolnik; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; her sister, Audrey Bloom; and her close friends, Nan and David Banker. Funeral services will take place at 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at the Charlotte Valley Presbyterian Church in Davenport, with the Rev. Carol Wilson, officiating. Calling hours will precede the service from 1 to 3 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in the spring in Davenport Cemetery, Davenport.
