Karen Irene Gleason, 70, passed away suddenly, yet peacefully, on Monday, November 17, 2025 at AdventHealth Daytona Beach after a quick battle with cancer.
Karen was born on February 12, 1955 in Troy, New York to the late Julia S. Martin and Louis J. Martin. She was raised in North Greenbush, New York and graduated from Columbia High School in 1973. She dabbled with different professions throughout her life including travel agent roles and collegiate financial aid counseling.
Her greatest accomplishment was her family. She was blessed with her son, Gregory, and that family grew when Gregory married Kristy (per Karen, the daughter she never had), and they blessed her with her one and only grandchild, Samantha. Being promoted to a grandmother in 2013 was a joyous occasion. She took great joy and pride doting on Samantha.
Later in life, she met and fell in love with William (Bill) Becker, who predeceased her. She and Bill enjoyed cruising, traveling and spend time at the Ormond Beach Elks as members. She is now reunited with Bill in heaven.
Karen was predeceased by her mother, Julia S. Martin; her father, Louis J. Martin; the love of her life, William Becker; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Karen is survived by her son and his wife, Gregory & Kristy Migirditch and her granddaughter, Samantha Avery Migirditch, all of Collierville, Tennessee. She is also survived by many cousins and a plethora of friends.
To honor Karen’s wishes, no official visitation or funeral services will be held. Please honor her by raising a glass of your favorite libation, she’d prefer a glass of chilled boxed white wine (possibly with fruit), and toast a life well lived.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Make a Wish (https://wish.org) or a charity of your choice.
Karen’s family offers heartfelt gratitude to all the staff at AdventHealth/Hospice Daytona Beach for their care, compassion, and support given during Karen’s illness and passing.
Please visit Karen’s online memorial at www.macarthurfh.com and leave a condolence or share a story with her family.
