Klaus H. Sohns

Klaus Sohns, 85, passed away on July 31. Born in 1941 in Germany, he was the son of the late Paul and Lucy Sohns.

Klaus graduated from A.L. Kellogg School in Treadwell and was best known for his strong work ethic as the local "milk man," serving as a milk distributor for 41 years. He was highly respected and admired throughout the community for his integrity, honesty, dedication to others, and his relentless desire to provide for his family. He served for 25 years on the Delaware Academy Board of Education, 11 years as a Franklin Justice of the Peace, officiating more than 100 weddings, and 40 years as a volunteer firefighter.

During his free time, Klaus enjoyed dancing with his beloved wife, spending time with family and friends, golfing, playing cards, and smoking a cigar while driving his golf cart. In his later years, Klaus cherished his second home in Florida, where he and Sharon loved entertaining their family and friends. He also enjoyed visiting Culpeper, Virginia, a place that held great meaning as the community where he began his life in America.

Above all, Klaus's greatest joy was his family. He was the devoted and faithful husband of Sharon Haney for 65 years. As a father, he taught his children the value of hard work, perseverance, and financial responsibility. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the light of his life. His smile, wise advice, and unconditional love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Besides his parents, Klaus was predeceased by his two brothers, Luther and Helmut.

Klaus is survived by his wife: Sharon; his three sons: Douglas, Robert, and Matthew; his daughters-in-law: Jan, Dawn, and Mary-Margaret; his six grandchildren: Brett, Amber, Taylor, Braxton, Briena, and Maggie and their spouses: Chelsea, Kevin, Amanda, and Micah; and nine great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held at MacArthur Funeral Home in Delhi on Friday, September 11, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Delhi Alliance Church on Saturday, September 12, at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Treadwell Fire Department, Treadwell Untied Methodist Church, or the Croton Union Cemetery, Treadwell.
