Krystyna M. Lauro

Krystyna M. Lauro of Hobart, NY passed away early Thursday morning, June 12th, at the Delhi Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Delhi, NY after suffering for a number of years with acute dementia.

She leaves behind her daughter, Dorothy (David) Lennon of Hobart along with granddaughters: Caroline Lennon of Oneonta; Nicole Lennon of Cobleskill; Danielle Lennon of Delmar; Claudia Lennon of Syracuse; grandson Bartek Turek and family of Tennessee and great granddaughter, Nadia Turek, of Florida.

Born Krystyna Ciolkosz in Stalowa Wola, Poland in 1941 during the height of WWII, she was a Biology Teacher by trade and married her first husband, Roman J. Turek, in Poland, in 1961. They had two children, Andrzej and Dorothy.  Roman predeceased her in 1972 due to an unfortunate accident. In 1979, after emigrating to America, Krystyna married Louis Lauro of New York and became the second Mom to his nine grown children. Her own two children were finally able to emigrate to America a few years later.  Krystyna and Lou finally settled in Hobart with Dorothy & David in 1997.  Louis predeceased her in 2005 and her son, Andrzej, passed in 2008.

The family of Krystyna express their sincere appreciation to the remarkable staff in DNRC – Dogwood floor, who patiently provided exceptional dementia care to Krystyna during her last two years. They are the “Angels of Dogwood”.

Calling hours will be held at MacArthur Funeral Home, 15 Buntline Drive, Stamford, NY on Friday, June 20, 2025, from 11:00am – 1:00pm with a 1:30pm Mass at the Sacred Heart Church, Stamford.  Burial will follow in Locust Hill Cemetery, Hobart, NY.
