Larry R. Schwartz

Larry R. Schwartz, 84 of Stamford, passed away early Wednesday morning, September 6, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born on December 24, 1938, he was the son of the late Edna Tompkins Schwartz.

He proudly served in the US Army from 1962 until his honorable discharge in 1964.

Larry was employed as a Warehouse Manager by Mountainside Farms for over 40 years until his retirement in 2019.

He was a standout athlete and enjoyed all sports, Larry was an accomplished golfer, he played in the local senior leagues and was credited with several holes in one. He also was an avid NY Yankee baseball fan. Larry was a true outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. His greatest joy was his family and while growing up his extended family was very close, including his grandparents, aunts, and uncles.

Besides his mother, Larry was predeceased by his wife: Penny (Wright) Schwartz in 2000.

He is survived by three children: Madeline Hitt of Stamford, Laura Schwartz of Hobart and Brian Schwartz of Stamford; close friend: Richard Darmody and his children, Liam, Remington and Frankie Darmody; and two grandchildren: Kaylin (James Musella) Thonnesen of Jefferson and Amy (Anish Ochani) Thonnesen of Brooklyn.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 2PM on Friday, September 15, 2023 at the Stamford Cemetery, Stamford, NY.
