Laura J. Edwards

Laura Jean Edwards, 81, of Conesville, passed away on Monday, September 6, 2021 at her home following a long battle with health issues. Born on January 1, 1940, Laura was the daughter of the late Arthur and Glenda (Richmond) Smith. She last worked in the health office at Stamford Central School. Laura enjoyed reading, writing to her pen-pals, traveling, and ministering and helping people in need. She also had a passion for gardening. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son: Craig Wilbur Johnson; and a sister: Lorna VanHosen. Laura is survived by her husband: George W. Edwards of Gilboa; one daughter: Suzanne (Gilbert) Vortkamp of Jefferson; four grandchildren: Will (Kali) Johnson, Chelsea Johnson, Jessica Johnson and Abigail Vortkamp; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside services will be held at 1PM on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at the Manorkill Cemetery, Conesville with the Rev. Elliot Oaks officiating.
