Lorraine Wallin

Lorraine Wallin, 71 of Hobart, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, in Stamford, NY.

Born on August 20, 1953, in Valhalla, NY, Lorraine was the daughter of late Stephen and Stella (Smercak) Benchat.

She worked as a telephone operator for the Yonkers School District.

On March 21, 1970, Lorraine married Karl Wallin, a union that lasted nearly 49 years, until Karl’s passing on February 11, 2019.

Lorraine enjoyed watching sports and cheering on the New York Yankee’s especially Arron Judge. She enjoyed visiting with family and liked the opportunity to go out with her sons and family when they visited. Lorriane also enjoyed her cats. She often enjoyed going to play bingo with her good friend Jennie.

Besides her parents and husband, Lorraine was predeceased by her brother: Stephen Benchat.

She is survived by her sons: Karl (Silvia) Wallin of Ridgefield, CT and Stephen (Dolores) Wallin of Loris, SC; granddaughter: Jennifer (Mike) Burtt; great-grandchildren: Owen, Hannah, Elana and Joseph Burtt; sister: Jean Hogan of North Kingstown, RI; and niece and nephews: Terena Maura, William and Dan Genshino and Lynette Fitzpatrick.

Calling hours will be held from 1PM-4PM on Sunday, July 13, 2025 at the MacArthur Funeral Home, 15 Buntline Drive, Stamford, NY 12167. Graveside services will be held at 10:30AM on Monday, July 14, 2025, at Rose Hills Memorial Park, 100 Mill St, Putnam Valley, NY 10579.
