Louis C. Johnson

Louis C. Johnson, 67, formerly of Delhi, NY, passed away on Saturday evening, March 21, 2026 at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich, NY.

Born on March 14, 1959 in Delhi, Louis was the son of the late Lloyd and Lillian (VanBuren) Johnson.

He proudly served in US Army from 1980 until his honorable discharge in 1985, following his active service he continued to serve in the reserves for several years.

Louis worked in the maintenance department at SUNY Oneonta for over 22 years, retiring in 2009.

He enjoyed gardening and when he lived on the farm enjoyed raising chickens at one point caring for nearly one hundred pullets. He also loved music, especially his favorite Gorden Lightfoot.

Louis is survived by his daughters: Katie Jasper of DuPont, WA and Briana Jasper of Pooler, GA; several grandchildren; siblings: Melissa (Tony) Martin of Vernon, CT and Margaret Potucek of Springfield, KY; aunt: Dottie Halstead of Cooperstown, NY; mother of his children: Sue McKeon-Schaerr of Franklin, NC; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 11AM on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at The Oneonta Plains Cemetery, Oneida Street, Oneonta, NY.
