Lucille Elizabeth Stalker Bishop, 99, of Key Colony Beach FL, passed away peacefully on Sunday Morning, June 14, 2015 at her summer home in DeLancey surrounded by her family. Lucille was born October 23, 1915, in Swan Lake, NY, the daughter of Bessie and Harry Stalker. She married Robert L. Bishop, Esq. July 14, 1945, in Liberty, NY. He preceded her in death June 20, 1997. They were happily married for 52 years. Lucille received her teaching certificate from New Paltz College in 1933. She taught high school mathematics until the birth of her daughter, Charlotte E. in 1950, and substitute taught at Delaware Academy in Delhi until the birth of her son, Robert L II, in 1956. Lucille was District President of the Women's Society of Christian Service, a matron of Eastern Star and Sunday school superintendent. She was an active member of the Methodist Church in Delhi, which became the United Ministry of Delhi, and an active member of the Marathon Community United Methodist Church for the last eight years of her life. Lucille supported the O'Connor Hospital, Delaware County Alcohol and Drug Abuse council, Hanford Mills, the Catskill Center for Conservation and Development, and the Catskill Forest Association. She is survived by her daughter Charlotte (Charles) Hill, her son Robert (Ruthanne) Bishop II, granddaughters Pamela Hill, Suzanne (Felix Tubiana) Hill, Amy (William) Bishop Warner, Lindsay Bishop, Molly Bishop, great-granddaughter Lucille Irene Warner, cousins nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Friends and relatives are invited to call on the family from 4-7PM on Saturday, June 20th at the Hall & Peet Funeral Home, 134 Main Street, Delhi. A funeral service will be held at 1PM on Sunday, June 21st at the United Ministry of Delhi, Church Street, Delhi, with the Rev. Bert More officiating. Private burial will take place at Woodland Cemetery, Delhi. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Catskill Area Hospice, 1 Reynolds Ave, Oneonta, NY 13820, or the Marathon Community United Methodist Church, 3010 Overseas Hwy, Marathon FL, 33050.
