Lynwood G. “Lynn” Kinch, 91, died peacefully on September 4, 2025 in Stamford, NY.
He was born to Raymond and Mary Kinch in the Town of Meredith on July 9, 1934 and lived most of his life in Delhi, NY.
Lynn enlisted in the United States Navy, completing training as a meteorologist. He proudly served on the USS Iowa, the USS Valley Forge and the USS New Jersey.
He worked as a supervisor for the bridge crew of the New York State Department of Transportation based in Oneonta, NY for over 40 years.
Lynn enjoyed helping others through community activities. He was a lifetime member of the Delhi American Legion Post 190, where he served as the county commander. He supported youth through his work in the Boy Scouts and American Legion Baseball where he served as a commissioner. Lynn enjoyed dancing, golfing, fishing and hunting. He especially loved bowling, in his 80’s Lynn bowled a total score of over 700! He enjoyed people and was always ready with a joke to share. Lynn loved his family and was loved by all.
Lynn is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth, sons Kevin (Joan) and Tim (Deb), daughters Joy Brandon and Amy Bowie (John). He is also survived by grandchildren: Amber (Gene), Shawn (Stephanie), Jacob, Corey (Whitney), Kasey (Ryan), Kim (Mike), Sabina, Katrina (Mike), Sarah and Alex (Lindsay). Lynn was blessed with great-grandchildren: Tripp, Liam, Natalie, Tucker, Maddie, Kane, Olivia, Zachary, Mckenzie, Jen, Lilly Grace and Alexis. He is survived by his sister-in-law Wanda Aitkens, many nieces and nephews.
Lynn was predeceased by sons Brian and Dickie Hood as well as all eight of his siblings.
Graveside services with military honors will take place at the convience of the family.
