Patricia L. VanNortwick, 86, of South Kortright, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025, with her loving family by her side. Born on October 5, 1938, in Jefferson, New York, to Arthur and Ella Wayman, Pat lived a life defined by kindness, strength, and devotion. She dedicated many years of her life to caring for others as a Certified Nurses Aide, a role that was not just her profession but an extension of her giving heart and compassionate spirit.
Family was Pat’s greatest joy and proudest accomplishment. She leaves behind her children Jody Doroski, John Doroski, Robyn (Kevin) Doroski, and Lisa McGregor; her cherished grandchildren Robert (Beth) Bertuzzi Jr., Derek (Michelle) Wheeler, Christopher (Tiffany) Bertuzzi, Jordan (Paola) Doroski, and Cassidy (Lupe) McGregor; and her beloved great-grandchildren Brianna, Gabriela, Juliette Bertuzzi, Natalie, Landen Doroski, Aria, Lorenzo, Luciano Bertuzzi, and Elaina Shallo. She was also blessed with many nieces and nephews whom she held close to her heart, especially her niece Jackie Wayman who she lovingly raised.
Pat shared her journey with John Doroski Sr., Quentin Vannortwick, and her special friend David Rider, as well as countless other loved ones whose lives were brightened by her presence. She was welcomed into heaven by her parents, Arthur and Ella; her daughter, Patty Doroski; and her siblings Harry, Clayton, Laura, Bob, Nola, Virginia (Ginny), Wannetta, Evelyn, Shirley, and Richard.
Pat’s warmth and love extended beyond her family into her community. She served faithfully as secretary of the local Fire Department for several years, offering her time and talents wherever she could. A woman of simple joys, she loved writing letters, taking every chance to be out and about, and treating herself to her favorite indulgence—ice cream, especially chocolate and banana splits. Those who knew Pat will forever remember her quick wit, her resilient spirit, and the way she made everyone feel seen and cared for. She gave so much of herself, and her love will continue to ripple through her family and community for generations to come.
A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at MacArthur Funeral Home, 15 Buntline Drive, Stamford, New York, followed by a celebration of her life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pat’s memory to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Children’s Hospital, two causes that were dear to her heart.
Always With You
As I rejoice in heaven,
And watch over you every day,
I try to show you signs
That I never went away.
And though you cannot see me,
I am forever in your heart,
Trust that I’m here with you,
We will never be apart.
So until we meet again, Enjoy your life, be free. The love, the joy, the laughter Are memories shared with me.
