Phyllis A. Graves

Phyllis Arline Graves of Stamford died on Wednesday, Sept. 30, at Robinson Terrace Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was 100 years old.

She was born on June, 29, 1926 in Saugus, Mass., the only child of Henry and Mable (Morrison) Ritchie. A graduate of Malden High School, she entered the banking business, working several positions, including special assistant to the bank president, until her marriage to Robert W. Graves on June 24, 1951, at Maplewood Methodist Church in Malden, Mass.

In 1969, Phyllis and Bob moved to Stamford, where she volunteered at the former Stamford Hospital and many local charitable agencies and organizations. She also organized blood drives for the American Red Cross. Bob predeceased her in 2015.

Phyllis is survived by three of her four children, Lynne Stephenson, and her husband, Mark Stephenson, Glenn Graves and his wife, Katy Barber-Graves and Gail Graves. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Cathy Graves and grandson, Timothy, and four step grandchildren, Catherine "Maggie" Barber, Jon "Jake" Barber, Kieran Barber and Rosemary Barber and step-greatgrandchildren, Sadie and Finn Graves. Her son, David, predeceased her earlier this year.

A memorial service to celebrate Phyllis’ life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 1 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Stamford. Interment will be at the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody, Mass., at a later date.
