Richard M. Kenyon

Richard “Dick” Martin Kenyon passed from this life on September 2, 2025 to be with his heavenly father. He was received into the waiting arms of his parents, Richard and Frances Kenyon, and by his brother Jim, who already had their ponies saddled and ready.

Richard’s love lives on in the hearts of his cherished wife Margaret (Peg) Kenyon and five children, Amy (Arun) Kenyon, Meg (Randy) Hungerford, Jo Boring, Mark (Amanda) Kenyon and Beth (Luis) Kenyon. He was “Pa” to six adoring grandchildren (two more on the way!) and one great-grandchild. He also leaves behind a wide circle of extended family who knew him as a loyal and loving brother, uncle, and cousin Dick.

Dick was born on February 15, 1947 and grew up in Bloomville, NY with brother Jim and sisters Margaret and Linda. He attended South Kortright Central School. He married his high school sweetheart, Peg, in 1970 and started their farm in 1972. Marick Farm (Margaret + Dick) is still in operation on Turnpike Road, owned now by his son Mark and daughter in-law Amanda. Dick still loved to drive a truck, check on the milk weight, or see how the corn was growing.

Dick and Peg have attended Community Gospel Church since 1979, where he served faithfully as an elder and steadfast friend. His faith was evident in how he lived - steady, humble, and kindhearted. Dick was an anchor in several faith communities over the years and was known for his wisdom, generosity, and love for Jesus.

While he would much rather have been able to avoid doctors visits altogether, Richard became a familiar figure in the Bassett oncology clinic over the past decade. He loved getting to know people’s names and hearing their stories. His doctors Braven and Patel, and the entire caring staff were a blessing to him and the Kenyon family.

Throughout his life, Dick’s greatest joys were riding horses, working the farm, and having family close by. Though he didn’t like to go much past the mailbox, he was quick to visit a neighbor or help anyone in need. He was a caring employer, a respected member of the Delaware County farming community, and someone people could count on - especially in hard times. If you were in trouble, you could always call Dick. He was friendly to everyone, slow to anger, and always ready to lend a hand or a truck.

Richard Kenyon made this world better for all who were blessed to know him. His life was a testament to faith, family, and quiet strength. He leaves behind not only a thriving farm and a large, loving family, but also a legacy of service, compassion, and peace that passes all understanding.
