Russell J. Cole, Jr.

Russell J. Cole Jr., passed away on Thursday evening, July 16, 2026, peacefully at home.

Russ was born July 16, 1939, in Wayne, NJ, the son of the late Russell J. Cole and Rosina (Stern) Cole.

Russ’s first job was driving dump truck and working in the gravel pit for Hinchman’s.

He married Laurane Wunsch of Haledon, NJ on July 1, 1961. They moved to Betty Brook Road in South Kortright, NY in 1962. There they had a small dairy farm that Russ named Betty Brook Farm. In 1971 he sold the farm and went to work for Able Equipment in Oneonta, NY. In 1973 Russ purchased Finne's Service Station in Davenport, NY and opened his own business Cole's Garage. Over the 53 years in business, he changed the name of his business to Cole's Truck Parts as he was selling more parts than doing repairs.

Russ was known for getting the odd and unique parts that his customers needed and he loved that challenge.

Russ was known for his sense of humor, kindness, and work ethic. Whether offering a helping hand, sharing a story, or simply being there when someone needed him, he made a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

He is survived by his wife: Laurane Cole; sister: Lena K. Russell; his daughters: Lisa Fisher and Lori Cole-Fisher; grandchildren: Russell Fisher, Christopher Fisher, Mitchell Fisher (wife Tarah) and Jordyn Fisher; great-grandchildren: Ryder Montgomery, Camdyn Fisher, and Scotty Fisher. Russ is also survived by many extended family members and dear friends.

Besides his parents, Russ was predeceased by his sons: Russell J. Cole III and Ronald A. Cole; grandson: Matthew J. Fisher; and brother-in-law: William Russell.

Our family finds comfort in knowing that his legacy of love, strength, and devotion will live on in all of us. Though our hearts are broken, we are forever grateful for the years we shared with him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered every day.
