Sheila Addison

On December 12, 2025, Sheila McTague Addison, 72, was called to her heavenly home by her God and Redeemer, Jesus Christ the Lord. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Sheila dealt with cancer and its many side effects for much of her adult life, but she always had a joyful attitude and put her hope and trust in the Lord.

Sheila was born on November 26, 1953, to John & Eileen McTague. She was the fourth of five children and enjoyed her childhood with her siblings. At the age of 15, she received her first guitar and continued playing guitar for the next 57 years. She was a graduate of Mercy High School in Albany, NY. Sheila earned an AAS Degree from SUNY Delhi and a BS Degree from SUNY Cobleskill, both in the field of Plant Science and Horticulture. For 26 years, she was a Lab Instructor at SUNY Delhi in the Plant Science Department, where she also helped maintain several greenhouses.

She and her husband, David, were married in 1979. They were married for 46 years and had 3 children. She loved her family dearly, and being a mother and a grandmother was one of her greatest joys. Sheila and her family attended Delhi Alliance Church, where she assisted with many activities at the church, including helping with VBS, assisting with "Junior Church" for the K-4th graders each Sunday, and planting flowers in front of the church.

Sheila will be remembered for her strong faith, her kind and sweet spirit, her passion for plants and gardens, and her beautiful guitar playing. Her joyous spirit, even through all her health struggles, will continue to be an inspiration to all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, David Addison, of Delhi, NY, and three children: Jonathan, Betsy, and Susanna, and her two grandchildren, Ayla and Anaiah. She is also survived by her two sisters, Maureen Dana and Karen Maxim. She was predeceased by her parents, John & Eileen McTague, and her brothers, John McTague and Timothy McTague.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 12pm at Delhi Alliance Church in Delhi, NY.
