Stephen Ackerman

Stephen D. Ackerman, 56, of East Meredith, passed away on Monday, January 14, 2019 at his home follow a courageous battle with cancer. Born on July 2, 1962 in Suffern, NY, the son of the late Melvin and Juliet (Carpientari) Ackerman. He was married to Karen Bright-Ackerman on May 3, 2005. Stephen was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed searching for and collecting Native American arrowheads. He and Karen also enjoyed “treasure hunting” at local auctions and yard sales. Stephen also enjoyed his family and was a loving step-father. Besides his parents, He was predeceased by his mother-in-law: Joan Bright; and step-daughter: Spring Bright. Stephen is survived by his wife: Karen Bright-Ackerman of East Meredith; step-sons: Derek Bright of Stamford and Adam Bright of East Meredith; brother: Michael (Myrna) Ackerman of S. Kortright; father-in-law: Don Bright of Stamford; step-sisters: Kayla, Leanne and Amanda; and several in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral service will be held at 6PM on Monday, January 21, 2019 at the MacArthur Funeral Home, 15 Buntline Drive, Stamford, where friends and relatives are invited to call on the family one hour prior to the service from 5-6PM.
