Vincent Perzan

It is with deep sorrow and profound gratitude that we announce the passing of Vincent Perzan who departed this life at the age of 100. Born into a humble farming family in Croatia, he grew up with little material wealth but an abundance of resilience, integrity, and determination.

From the earliest days of his youth, Vincent understood the value of hard work. Life on the farm taught him the value of family and community service—qualities that would define his character for a century. In pursuit of a better life, he made the courageous decision to immigrate to the United States, carrying with him nothing but hope and an unwavering work ethic.

Settling in Flushing, Queens, he struggled to build a life for his family with quiet strength and purpose. By working long hours he succeeded in starting his own successful business. Vincent never wavered in striving to achieve the American dream of owning his own house. His hands bore the marks of labor, but his heart remained gentle and generous.

He was a man of few words but deep wisdom, whose legacy lives on in the values he instilled in his one and only son, Ugo, that is resilience, humility, and the belief that no task is beneath you if it’s done with dignity. Though we mourn his passing, we take comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with his beloved wife, Elisa, who passed away in 2008. Their bond was one of quiet devotion and enduring love that not even death could diminish. After so many years apart, they are together once more, hand in hand, in eternal peace.

Vincent is survived by his son: Ugo; and Ugo’s wife Judy; each of whom carries forward his spirit and strength. He was preceded in death by his brothers Nicola, Delio, Tanislov, and Martino.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Sacred Heart Church, Harper Street, Stamford, followed by entombment at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Stamford.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Helios Care (www.helios.org), Food for the Poor, CARE, or St Jude Children’s Hospital (www.stjude.org) in honor of Vincent’s lifelong commitment to helping others.

Though he has left this world, the example he set will continue to guide us. Vincent’s was a life well-lived, and he will be deeply missed by all those that knew him.
