Wayne D. Pickett

Wayne D. Pickett, 81, of Stamford, NY, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Albany Medical Center.

Born on December 25, 1944, in Grand Gorge, Wayne was the son of the late Francis and Daisy (Moore) Pickett.

Wayne was a graduate of the Grand Gorge Central School. After school, he started his career in the milk processing plants for Sealtest Dairy and Prospect Dairy until they closed. He then worked for the New York Power Authority, retiring as the mechanic sub-foreman.

Wayne was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and cutting and splitting firewood. Above all, he cherished time spent with his grandsons.

He served as a volunteer fireman, first with the Grand Gorge Fire Department and later serving the Stamford Fire Department.

Besides his parents, Wayne was predeceased by his first wife: Darlene Pickett; son: Wayne R. Pickett; and brothers: Francis and Richard Pickett.

He is survived by his wife: Christine Pickett of Stamford; children: Dwayne (Carrara) Pickett of Stamford, Michael (Sharon) Pickett of Kingston and Jill (Kevin) Fluet of Newmarket, NH; five grandsons: Kyle, Christopher and Rian Pickett, Nathan and Cameron Fluet; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside services will be held in the spring at Stamford Cemetery, Stamford, NY.
