William Hauser

William L. (Bill) Hauser passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Thursday May 3, 2018, at Albany Medical Center, the result of a stroke. He was born and raised in Cliffside Park, New Jersey, the youngest son of Francis J. and Dagny Regina (Olsen) Hauser. Bill was a 50 year member of the Theatrical Protective Union Local #1 International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, IATSE Local #1, following in the footsteps of his father and older brothers and leading the way for his sons. He started out at the Metropolitan Opera House and, over the course of his career, had the privilege to work in all of the Broadway Theaters of his time. His deep appreciation for the Catskills Region began when, as a child, he spent summers with his mother and sister at his grandmother’s boarding house in Windham, NY. Bill and his wife Chris moved to their home in South Gilboa to raise their children, Hannah and Andy, in the fresh air and beauty of the region. The accomplishments of his life are not measured by awards and accolades, but by his kindness to others, his devotion to family and friends, his willingness to spend an extra minute to listen to one’s story, or to help console or advise another in need. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Chris, their children Hannah and Andy, son Bill, by his firs wife Gloria, sister Lois, and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents Francis and Dagny, and brothers Frank and Richard. Friends and family are invited to a party in his honor on May 27 from 1-5 at The Garden Path Barn, 335 Gaffey Rd, in Harpersfield, NY. Dishes to pass are welcome. ieu of flowers please donate to the Albany Medical Center by visiting their web site and pressing the “Give Now” button.
