Zachery Leroy

Zachery D. LeRoy, 80, of Stamford, passed away early Wednesday morning, September 25, 2019 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown. Born on May 26, 1939 in Hobart, He was the son of the late Zachery and Jeannette (Manchester) LeRoy. Mr. LeRoy proudly served as a Signal Man in the US Navy from 1959-1963, stationed on the USS Forrestal (CV-59) during the Korean War. Zachery owned and operated a dairy farm in Hobart and also worked for several years in maintenance for WCCRC in Stamford and Grand Gorge. He enjoyed playing softball in his younger years, he was also an avid golfer and member of the Stamford Golf Course. Zachery’s greatest passion and joy was his family, he was a loving husband, devoted father and proud grandfather and great-grandfather. Zachery is survived by his wife of 55 years: Rose Mary LeRoy; sister: Bonnie (Norton) Holly; children: Robin (Joe) Palmatier, Marc (Joni) LeRoy and Andrew (Amy) LeRoy; grandchildren: Leann (Gabe) Albanese, Josh Palmatier, Micala LeRoy, Charlie LeRoy, Christian LeRoy, Dalton LeRoy and Dylan LeRoy; great-grandchildren: Oliva Albanese, Nolan Albanese and Ava Warner; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters: Rosemary Owens and Joanna Peters Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
